4020 3 point trouble. This is my first post here, so here it goes.... I have a JD 4020D, powershift tranny tractor, serial #90XXX with an issue. My 3 point hitch doesn.t work correctly. First thing is the rockshaft selector has only ever worked in the LD posistion, which has never really been a problem. When I place it in the L or D posistion ...Now we are a dairy farm. We have a 1964 John Deere 4020 diesel, the weight retainer for the governor in the injector pump broke so we ordered the part and began to disassemble the pump. (uses the RoosaMaster DB pump). During disassembly, my Dad broke the "cam locating screw" off in the housing, so we cannot continue to disassemble.The 4010 and VERY early (IIRC, pre-'65) 4020 tractors DO have a 3rd reverse. The later early models and on only have 2 reverse gears that are sped up. The the early ones, 1st reverse is the same speed as 3rd forward, 2nd reverse is like 5th and 3rd reverse is like 7th. So, 3rd reverse is 12mph. I am currently experiencing problems starting my john deere 4020 (1969 12v). When starting, the starter motor sprocket does not grab the starter ring properly causing the engine to not go around and start. The starter ring was replaced six months ago by the previous owner.
