It was my first time to Muir Woods and while very very beautiful - I didn't find it overly different from other amazing local redwood hikes or the national park up north. I parked at Old Mill Park in Mill Valley and hiked in for free (national park pass handy to cover entrance cost) and extended my hike by taking the Ben Johnson and Dipsea loop.
