Depending upon the mod in question, it may be compatible with mods that alter her hair color or eye color. It should be compatible with simple changes to her texture, and likely changes to her head mesh.

Came out of the level up menu and it had changed. That being said my shadowhearts hair is white and although the style of hair changed, the hair colour did not change in the portrait.
